Andean Condor Observation

From Samaipata

 
 
This tour for observing Andean condor begins early at 05:00 AM from the town of Samaipata.
 
The vehicle ride takes approximately 2 hours on a dirt road to reach the starting point of the hike.
 
After leaving the vehicle, a trekking journey of approximately 3 hours (round trip) begins towards the main condor viewpoint and back to the vehicle.
 
The hike starts at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level (m) and reaches a maximum altitude of 2,600 m.
 
The trail initially ascends steeply, then continues on a more gradual incline through a sub-Andean forest where you can see trees such as Myrtaceae and Podocarpus, until reaching the second viewpoint, where the majestic condors can be observed.
 
Throughout the hike, you will reach breathtaking panoramic viewpoints in the mountains.
 
Once at one of the best observation points, you will have the opportunity to watch the Andean condor soaring at low altitude, right above your head.
 
From a higher vantage point, you may also see condors flying below you, as the area overlooks a vast canyon or gorge between mountains. It is even possible to observe juvenile condors flying at a lower altitude than your position, creating a truly spectacular sight.
 
After spending approximately 1.5 hours at the andean condor viewpoints and having lunch in this incredible location, we will return to the vehicle and drive back to Samaipata.
 
At around 5:00 PM, we will arrive back in Samaipata.
