Full day tours at a private forest near Amboro N. park

This private forest features a rustic hostel with 4 rooms that can accommodate 2 to 4 people, as well as a shared kitchen and dining area.
 
The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and a shared refrigerator, allowing you to prepare meals at your convenience.
 
Each room has a private bathroom with hot water; the facilities are spacious and clean. A large terrace invites you to relax outdoors. There is also internet signal available.
 
The nearest town to this private forest is Buenavista, located just 5 km away and accessible via a public road.
 
 
In Buenavista, you’ll find restaurants, bars, a lovely central plaza, shopping options, an internet café, and a public telephone. José goes there daily and can take you along.
 
Near this private forest in Buenavista, there is a bank offering various services, including an ATM. Additional banking services can be found in Yapacaní (25 km) and Montero (50 km). These towns can be reached by public transport, and the average travel time is about one hour.

Full day tours at a private forest with a place to stay overnight

This private forest  has also  a small  hostel at hopefully the hostel and the eco-tourism will be enough to  enlarge this precious piece of land.

If you love the nature, like to get up to the singing of birds, to the sounds of a subtropical rainforest, and breath its fresh air? Then you are right here. 

This private forest known as  Bosque de José is situated near Buena Vista village, a 2 hours drive from Santa Cruz 

 Here you will find a cosy little guesthouse with four bedrooms in the middle of a subtropical rainforest. You can discover the the whole variety of nature right in front of your main door. The sounds of the forest will accompany you while eating, taking a rest in the hammock outside and even in your dreams.

Although 17° South at 400m above sea-level the climate is nice and mild. You can enjoy Sepp’s expert guiding or stroll around yourself on the little footpaths throughout the forest to discover things. Or just sit on the veranda, soak up the forest atmosphere and listen to frogs and cicadas. Butterflies, bats and birds can be just as easily watched as arbillas(kind if squirrels) and different species of monkeys that often come right up to the front door. If you are patient enough you might be lucky to see a sloth, wild pigs and deer, or a wild cat. You can find many orchids and other colourful flowers.

While walking around this private  forest you’ll also discover many exotic cultivated plants spread between the forest vegetation. So you can enjoy at José’ s house self-picked bananas, sun-ripened mangos, ginger, curcuma and cocoa, as well as self- harvested and home-roasted coffee –

Itineraries:

1 Day 0 Nights – 2 Days 1 Night – And 24-Hour Tour

1 Day 0 Nights Tour

 
Pickup at 8:00 AM and transfer to the private forest near the town of Buena Vista, located in the northern part of the city.
This private forest is near Buena Vista and lies close to the northern side of Amboró National Park. The journey takes approximately 2 hours or 100 km.
 
This forest has trails for walking and is off the common tourist routes.
 
The private forest is about 20 minutes by vehicle from the town of Buena Vista.
 
Today’s hike can last 4 to 6 hours depending on available time, at a relaxed pace, trying to observe howler monkeys, other monkey species, sloths, and other animals. The guide will also explain the local flora and fauna.
 
When there is time, and if requested in advance, a demonstration of the artisanal coffee or cacao bean process can be arranged.
 
After these activities, and if your tour is only for 1 day 0 nights, a vehicle will arrive at 4:00 PM to take you back to the town of Buena Vista. From there, you will board another vehicle to return to the city of Santa Cruz, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or accommodation.

2 Days 1 Night Tour

 
Day 1

Late in the afternoon the trekking is towards the camping site to set up  the tents or if the package includes overnight at the hostal at  the forest the  overnight is in the hostal.
At night we offer a nocturnal walk to have some more chances of spotting wildlife.

Day 2
On the second day, the trekking should  start very early in the private forest and can last 4 to 5 hours.
The hike or trekking is done at a relaxed pace, trying to spot howler monkeys, other monkey species, and animals. The guide will also provide explanations about the flora.
 

This second day can also be used to explore another private forest or another point of interest near the town of Buena Vista

After these activities, and if your tour is only for 2 day 1 night, a vehicle will arrive at 4:00 PM to take you back to the town of Buena Vista. From there, you will board another vehicle to return to the city of Santa Cruz, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or accommodation.

24-Hour Tour Starting at Sunset

 
We also offer a similar tour that starts in the late afternoon and ends around the same time the next day.
The advantage of this type of itinerary is the opportunity to experience the sunset, nighttime forest walks, and sunrise—when nature is at its most vibrant.

At this private forest there is a  hostal is an ecofriendly guesthouse and offers 4 bedrooms for 2-4 people each. It has a friendly kitchen and dining room for common use.

 The kitchen is equipped with gas stove and refrigerator and can be used for cooking your own meals. José makes breakfast himself – his “jungle-muesli” is legendary! For other meals you can choose if you want to cook on your own or have José do it. 

There is a spacious bathroom with hot water shower. A comfy veranda invites to laze and lie in the hammock. Internet access is basically awailable, but the connection is not always working (more reliable in town).

The nearest town of this private forest is Buenavista, that can be reached after 5km on a public road. There are restaurants and bars, a nice and shady Plaza, shops, an internet store and telefone offices. José usually drives into town on workdays and can take people or do the shopping.
